Privacy Policy

FormForge is a strength-training app for iPhone. This page explains what it stores, where, and what you control. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
What stays on your phone
Your workouts, sets, training settings, Fuel log, body measurements and progress photos are stored on your iPhone first, so the app works with no signal. Progress photos never leave your phone unless you choose to post one to Community or ask your coach for a progress check-in (see AI progress check-ins below).
What syncs to your account
When you sign in, FormForge keeps a private copy of your profile, workouts, sets, training settings, programs, custom exercises, body measurements, your Fuel log (meals, water, saved foods and meals, and nutrition targets), coach conversations and your daily readiness score so you can use it on another device and restore it later. Your account is protected with your email and password, and only you can read your data.
Your data is stored with Berth, the backend service that runs FormForge accounts, on servers operated for FormForge. It is not shared with other apps.
Apple Health
With your permission, FormForge reads sleep and resting heart rate to calculate a daily readiness score, and can save finished workouts to Apple Health. If you're signed in, the readiness score and the night's total sleep minutes are saved to your account alongside your training. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing and is never sold.
AI coach
When you ask the coach a question, use the machine camera, or view an AI insight, the relevant training details (for example today's plan, recent sets, a meal photo or description you log in Fuel, and your question or photo) are sent to an AI model provider through OpenRouter to generate the answer. They are used only to answer that request. Don't include anything in a question you wouldn't want processed this way. You can turn the AI coach off in Settings.
AI progress check-ins
A coach check-in is optional, and it stays off until you agree to it in the app. When you ask for one, the progress photos you chose (one or two), a short summary of your training (for example sets per week for each muscle, sessions per week, your logged body weight, and calorie and protein averages if you use Fuel) and any note you type are sent to an AI model provider through OpenRouter, which passes them to the model that writes the check-in.
- Photos are not stored. They are resized and stripped of location and camera details on your phone first, used only to answer that request, and are not stored by FormForge or kept in your account. The function that handles the request does not save or log them.
- What is kept. The written check-in is saved on your phone as text, without the photos, so you can read or delete it later. It is not synced to your account, and it is removed if you delete your account or wipe the app's data.
- Your control. You can withdraw your agreement or turn check-ins off in Settings at any time, and delete past check-ins in the app. Check-ins are limited to a few a day.
- What it will not do. A check-in does not estimate body fat or body measurements, does not judge how you look, is not medical advice, and is only for photos of adults. If a note suggests you are struggling with food or your body, no photo is sent and the app points you to support.
Community
Community is optional. Nothing about you appears there until you join.
- What is public. If you join, other FormForge users can see your handle, display name, bio and avatar, your posts, any photos you post, your comments and, if you leave the leaderboard switch on, your leaderboard stats (volume, sessions, streak and best estimated lifts).
- Photos. Progress photos stay on your phone unless you choose to post one. Photos you post are resized and stripped of location data before they upload.
- Direct messages. Messages are stored on our servers so they can reach the other person. We do not read them; an admin can see a message only if someone reports it.
- Where you stand. The percentile comparison is anonymous. It uses aggregate training stats from all FormForge lifters, not only people in Community, and never shows who they are.
- Leaving and deleting. Leaving Community from Community settings deletes your community profile, posts, comments, likes, follows and the messages you sent. Deleting your account deletes all of it too.
- Groups. Groups are optional and need Community. Your crew can see your name, handle, avatar and the numbers a challenge scores (workouts, volume, minutes, PRs, streak), your crew chat messages and the check-in photos you post, which also appear in your Community feed. Messages and photos are stored on our servers so they can reach the crew; an admin sees them only if someone reports them.
- Leaving a crew. Leaving a crew removes you from its standings and chat. Leaving Community or deleting your account deletes your crew messages, check-ins and trophies and removes you from every crew. A crew owner can remove members and delete the crew.
The rules for posting and how to report or block someone are in the Community Rules.
Subscriptions
Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple. We never see your payment details. We keep your subscription status (plan, renewal date, trial) so Pro works across your devices.
Notifications
If you allow them, FormForge sends reminders such as rest alerts, training nudges and a reminder before a free trial ends, and, if you join Community, alerts for messages, new followers, and likes and comments on your posts (you can turn those off in Community settings), and, if you use Groups, crew chat, nudges and challenge start, last-day and result alerts (you can turn those off in Groups). You can turn all notifications off in iOS Settings.
Your controls
- Export everything as CSV or JSON from the app.
- Clear local data on this phone at any time from Settings.
- Delete your account from Profile. This deletes your account and the data stored with it.
Children
FormForge is not directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
